The white stuff

From what we're hearing, NYC and the surrounding areas were slammed with approximately 24 inches of snow. We have about a foot and, yes, we had to get up early this morning to find out if we needed to go to church. Yes, it was cancelled and we went back to bed.

On a related note, we've never had a porch/deck before, so we never seriously considered letting the cats check out the funny looking white stuff. Tessa was too freaked out by the harness and lead, so we didn't even bother with her. Minuet went outside and promptly began crying in an extremely pitiful voice to be let back in.

Tabitha had the most exposure. She wouldn't go out at first, because I was behind her. Once I got outside, she slowly wandered onto the snow-covered porch and began to explore. Some of the snow was 4-5 inches deep at the outer edges of the porch and came up to her belly. Her curiosity won out over the urge to shake all of her paws at every step.

After about 3 minutes, she insisted on coming back in as well. She was rather upset with us for trying to clean and warm up her paws. Apparently, only she is capable of doing it properly.
